A CONSULTANT from Taunton's Musgrove Park hospital is one of the world's top veteran runners.

Radiologist David Cooke, from North Petherton, was fifth in the 400m for runners aged 45-49 at last month's over 40s' world track and field championships in Brisbane, Australia, completing the event in 53.61s.

Thousands of people from around the globe took part in the championships, including 400 from England.

David had previously been to an over 40s' world championship in America, but this was the first time he had reached the final round of his event.
