CAMBORNE defeated struggling Helston by seven wickets at Roskear, victory bringing a 20 to four points award to stay in the title chase

Skipper Barry Purchase put Steve Pollard's players in and newly-promoted opener Cliff was caught by wicket-keeper Mark Bawden off speed merchant Charlie Shreck.

Justin Sammons and Pollard attempted to rebuild the innings, but the Helston skipper was back in the "Hutch" caught by Danny Mitchell for eight.

Sammons found a stable partner in Ronnie Williams and they took charge to add 99 runs. Williams from 80 ball in 81 minutes hit three boundaries in his valuable 26.

Sammons was caught and bowled by Shreck, back for a second stint, after Sammons hit eight fours in a polished 69. Helston's last six wickets mustered 28 runs with Ludlam making 17.

Charlie Shreck bowled well for his four wickets for 31, but Barry Purchase came on as third change to snap up 5-26 in 8.4 overs, and Paul Berryman one wicket that cost 26 runs.

In reply Camborne lost Kevin Roberts well caught by Halliday off Sammons for four, but talented young Danny Mitchell with Peter Davey added 91 runs before Davey was caught by Dunstan off Sammons for 35.

With a century in his sights, Mitchell, with two sixes and 15 fours to his credit , seeking another four, was well caught off a skier, Ludlam holding his nerve to give Sammons a well deserved third wicket.

By now Camborne were 148-3 and Sweeney and Purchase scored the runs required for victory in the 27th over.

Sammons was the only bowler to enjoy any success with Figgins being hammered for 31 in 3.2 overs and MacDonald conceding 19 runs from three overs.
