WITH the last few league matches in the Ashfords Indoor Cricket League being played, there was an end of term feeling to the cricket, with very few of the relegation and promotion yet to be decided.

The best match came in Division One, where Witheridge 2ndes finished on a roll and avoided the dreaded drop, with an excellent win over a strong Bickleigh side. They posted a competitive score of 1'31-3, with teenagers Henry Hayden (25ret), Matt Weeks (24no) and Jamie Singh (19) taking the credit. Bryn Latchem took 2-35. Ashfords hopes of avoiding the drop disappeared before they started against Culmstock, only four players turned up and defeat was inevitable. Culmstock exploited the gaps and reached the strong score of 142-5, led by Geoff Farley with 45, supported by Jon Pyle with 28no. Justin Dollow took 2-25. In reply the four-man Ashfords reached a respectable total of 104 all out, mostly thanks to Justin Dollow with 53.
