SCHOOL pupils from across Devon are visiting the University of Exeter to measure the speed of light, discover artificial intelligence and see what happens to everyday objects at -200°C.
A series of National Science and Engineering Week events at the university on March 17 and 18 will introduce students aged 14 to 17 to a whole host of scientific ideas.
By giving them access to its world-class laboratories and introducing them to scientists, many of them leaders in their fields, the university hopes to inspire them to consider a career in science.
Professor Janice Kay, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the university said: “Exeter is a top ten university with an international reputation for groundbreaking research, boosted by an £80million investment in science.
“We are committed to sharing our expertise with people outside the university and encouraging young people to consider higher education.
“These events will bring schools from across the region into the university and we think they will be inspired by what they see and do.”
