Man with meat cleaver on Plymouth street


A 36-year- old man was arrested by police in Plymouth after reports he was waving a meat cleaver in the street.

Officers were called to Barne Barton in Plymouth at around 6pm yesterday and after a search of Barne Road a local man was quickly arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

The cleaver was found nearby.

He was taken to Charles Cross Police Station and later released without charge.

The man was, later charged with a shoplifting offence relating to an incident in St Budeaux on Friday and possession of class C drugs.

He is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on February 18.
