A MID Devon policewoman has been acknowledged by the county council for her work with young people.
PC Hannah Lamport, youth intervention officer for Mid Devon, was a finalist in the Cream of Children and Young Persons Services awards.
It was the first such event run by Devon County Council and was aimed at those who work hard for the well-being of young people.
Hannah was nominated for the Stakeholder award, open to those who work with county staff to make a difference to young people.
Sgt Rob Curtis, neighbourhood team leader for Tiverton police, said: “This award was open to a huge number of professionals across the entire county of Devon.
“Due to all the hard work and commitment Hannah has shown over the past year she was invited to the ceremony|and received a certificate as a finalist in the category.
“I am extremely proud of her achievements in such a short space of time and I know the families she has supported are just as grateful.”
n PC Chris Chamings, neighbourhood beat manager for the West Exe area and Tiverton High School, has said a sad farewell to Tiverton.
Chris joined the Tiverton Team in 2007-08 and was a familiar face around the high school – known to many pupils and staff members.
More recently he forged a strong partnership with his colleague for the West Exe area, PCSO Melanie Smith, holding many public meetings giving the community the chance to have its say on crime and disorder.
He left Tiverton on a high having been promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Honiton area.
His replacement is local officer PC Saren Isaac who knows Tiverton well and has a large amount of experience of policing.
