A YOUNG Tiverton woman has been named one of the top four apprentices in the South-West by the manufacturers’ organisation EEF.
Katie Louise Webber, 24, was runner-up in the Final Year Apprentice category in the first EEF Future Manufacturing Awards, which were presented at a ceremony in Bristol.
Katie, who works for HepcoMotion in Tiverton, received her accolade in recognition of her outstanding precision engineering skills and her academic achievements during her training programme.
She currently works with the company as a design assistant.
Terry Slater, EEF South West Region Director, said: "Young people such as Katie are a credit to themselves, their employers and industry as a whole.
“Apprenticeships provide an excellent route into the world of work for young people and play a key role in developing the talent and skills that our manufacturing, engineering and technology-based companies require."
The EEF awards, which were launched this year, celebrate enterprise, innovation, environmental performance and skills development among UK manufacturers.
