THE NSPCC is launching its countdown to Number Day 2009, the charity’s annual sponsored maths challenge for schools.
Last year 13 schools in Devon took part in Number Day raising over £2,800.
The charity is hoping that this year’s event will build on the success of previous years and raise even more money to help protect vulnerable children and young people from abuse.
Number Day takes place on Friday, December 4, and teachers can download their packs now from www.nspcc.org.uk/numberday.
Each pack is filled with fun, curriculum-based maths fundraising activities for Key Stages 1, 2 3 and 4.
Activities include a sponsored Who Wants To Be A Mathionaire?, based on the TV game show, and an entrepreneurial task Be the Boss which challenges Key Stage 4 pupils to raise £100 from a fundraising event with a budget of £50.
All the money raised through Number Day will benefit the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal which aims to raise £50 million over three years to grow the NSPCC helplines, text and online counselling services.
Number Day packs are available to all primary and secondary schools across Devon.
Teaching resources are also available to help schools raise awareness of the work of the NSPCC and ChildLine.
