BISHOPS Lydeard man has turned the gloom of the recession into a novel new venture by offering the world some ‘cheeky freebies’.
Jobless construction worker John Barker, 23, has created a new website that helps viewers get their hands on free stuff.
CheekyFreebies.com is a portal for giveaways from companies and promoters and – it’s gaining in popularity.
John told the County Gazette: “I get about 30 freebies on there every week and I’m hoping to grow it into a really big national site.
“It offers free samples and promotional free things and it should help others in the credit crunch. More and more companies seem to use free samples as a way of promotion.
“I was let go just before Christmas last year and it started as a bit of a hobby, as I’ve always been interested in the internet. The Jobcentre put me on a training scheme and the hobby is turning into a business.”
