TIVERTON’S New Hall hosts another top-class array of international comedians tonight.

Headline act is Scottish comic and impersonator Geoff Boyz.

Boyz has gained TV and web notoriety for his extraordinary impressions of Robert de Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, and even Rory Bremner has called his appearances “a fantastic show”.

Boyz did an impression of the late Dave Allen on live TV – in front of Dave Allen himself, who loved it – and this sits alongside a string of high-profile TV appearances from Pebble Mill to Aunty’s Sporting Bloomers.

He’s worked behind the scenes on shows including Dead Ringers and They Think It’s All Over, co-wrote and starred in the BBC Radio 5 show Colin, and you’ll know his voice from some whiskey TV ads.

“Boyz will have to be at the top of his game because the opening act is every bit as successful, and a true headliner in his own right,” commented promotor Steve Lodge, who has been running the comedy club for three years.

Opener Matthew Hardy is known to most Australian households for his chat show presenting, as a roving reporter and panellist.

But to the comedy world his talents stretch much further.

Hardy was the first Australian comic to establish himself on London’s comedy scene in the 90s at Comedy Store Leicester Square and Up The Creek in Greenwich.

He was part of the BAFTA award-winning writing team for ITV’s The Sketch Show, and wrote for Kelsey Grammer – better known as Frasier – on his own sketch series on FOX in the US.

The Australian is currently in the UK presenting coverage of the Ashes cricket, and will take time out to join Geoff Boyz and the club’s regular compere, Craig Campbell.

If you have never experienced stand-up from the comfort of a theatre seat, Comedy Hall is the show to see. Doors open at 7.30.
