POLICE in Barnstaple have organised a drop-in session for members of the public to talk to a variety of agencies about a range of rural issues, from ‘safe country road driving’ to ‘safety around horses’.
The event is being held at Jubilee Hall, Swimbridge, Barnstaple on Saturday, March 28 from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Among those present will be representatives from the police, the British Horse Society, Country Watch and Horse Watch as well as Devon County Council’s community driving instructor.
The drop-in has been organised by PSCO Hannah Denton who will be on hand to provide information on the importance of responsible behaviour around horses whether as a pedestrian or driver, and other tips on crime prevention.
She said: “We are hoping to provide an interesting and informal event for local people, where they can get in touch with a number of different agencies in one place.
“This event is part of the Devon Country Mile initiative which aims to promote road safety and reduce road casualties to help make our rural roads safer and more pleasant for everyone to use.”
