Firefighters get on their bikes to go green
FIREFIGHTERS in Taunton are going green and getting on two wheels to make their way around the town.
Two bikes have been provided by Ian’s Cycle Centre, Taunton, for firefighters to get to community safety events and meetings in and around Taunton and Bridgwater.
One will be based at area headquarters, Chiltern House, Taunton, and one with fire community safety officer Bob Telfer, in Bridgwater.
Area Commander Dave Robinson said: “Using the bikes for community safety work and to attend local meetings, instead of using cars, is just one way we can address environmental concerns locally.”
If the scheme is successful, it will be expanded to other parts of Somerset.
