FIREFIGHTERS last night were called to a barn fire at a farm near Cullompton.
One fire engine from Cullompton and one from Tiverton, along with a water bowser from Exeter, were sent to the incident at Silverlands Farm, Uffculme, at around 10.15pm.
Three further engines were called for when officers realised the scale of the incident and these came from Wellington and Honiton. The incident command vehicle from Exmouth also attended.
The fire involved a large amount of straw and farm machinery.
Firefighters worked through the night, but at 4am had allowed the barn to burn out.
Latest reports at 7.30am said that firefighters were still at the scene damping down the surrounding buildings with 'steady progress' being made.
