MORE than a dozen police officers are taking part in a gruelling day-long cycle ride to raise money for the Exeter-based charity Dream-a-way.
The Rural East Devon (RED) Cycle Challenge gets underway at Honiton Police Station at 9am on September 18.
The cyclists will travel to five police stations across east Devon, covering a distance of about 40 miles.
Inspector Jim Gale, based at Honiton Police Station, said: “The purpose of this event is two fold; to promote the neighbourhood policing team in east Devon and to support the valuable contribution made by the charity Dream-a-way.
“There is a mixture of experienced cyclists and relative novices in our group so willpower and teamwork are crucial in order for all of us to complete the course.
“I am very grateful for the donations and support that I have received so far. Anybody wishing to sponsor the team can do so by writing to me at Honiton Police Station, Honiton High Street, Honiton, Devon, EX14 1LH. Please provide your name, address and the amount you would like to sponsor.”
The charity Dream-a-way is an Exeter based organisation that provides holidays for people with disabilities throughout the South West.
