Sarah Dyke, MP for Somerton and Frome, met with residents of Baltonsborough and Wincanton to discuss issues of concern.

During last week's parliamentary recess, the politician and her constituents discuss pertinent matters ranging from Gaza to the state of local government funding.

Meetings were held at Baltonsborough Village Hall and the Quaker Meeting House in Wincanton.

Topics of discussion included problems with the benefits system, the state of Somerset's roads, the cost of living crisis, fair funding for early years education, and mental health support for young people.

Ms Dyke and her caseworkers spoke to constituents one-to-one at each event and plan to follow up on the matters raised.

Somerset County Gazette: A range of important matters were discussed

In a statement, Ms Dyke said: "It’s always a pleasure to meet constituents and to have an opportunity to tell them about the work I’ve been doing on their behalf since being elected in July."

"Sadly, under this Conservative government, far too many people are struggling.

"I’ve been working hard in Parliament to bring about change and my team and I will make sure that the issues constituents raised with us at these events are addressed."
