AT the November meeting of the Taunton Breathe Easy Group, Julie Paul, a respiratory nurse at Musgrove Park Hospital gave a lively and interesting talk on Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She was ably assisted by respiratory nurse, Wendy.

Julie stressed the importance of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, as a means of helping sufferers of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and to help anyone with a respiratory problem, to manage their condition and lead an active a life as possible.

The course is run at Musgrove Park Hospital, patients are assessed individually and given a programme of exercises suitable for their needs and abilities.

The sessions are designed to motivate sufferers to exercise daily, and manage their condition, with particular regard to dealing with exacerbations. After the exercises, there are talks on such subjects as lung disease, stopping smoking, medication, nutrition and breathing, occupational therapy and Social Service benefits.

The next meeting of the group will be held in the Baptist Church, Silver Street at 2pm and as it is so close to Christmas, this will be a social afternoon.

At the meeting on January 16, 2008, members will have a talk about the BBC from Nick Thornley. New members will always be made welcome. For any further details please contact Aidre on 01823-256757 or Brian and Margaret on 01823-325134.
