THE Adult Social Care Services is celebrating its fourth consecutive top annual rating with a touch of theatre.

The Somerset County Council service, which works with older people and adults with learning or physical disability and sensory loss, has again been awarded an excellent' three stars by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

Celebrations are being held at Taunton's Brewhouse Theatre on Thursday, with the screening of Germ Academy, a film about food hygiene made by people in the county with learning difficulties.

Among the areas of the Adult Social Care Services rated excellent were leadership, use of resources, maintaining personal dignity and respect, increased choice and control and improving quality of life, health and emotional well-being.

Miriam Maddison, Community Director at County Hall, said: "To receive a three-star rating is a welcome endorsement of all the work that the council does in this area.

"This event is all about celebrating the achievements of people we help.

"As a service, it's important that we aren't content to just support and care for people.

"It's about making a positive contribution to people's lives, helping them achieve great things and this event is celebrating just that."

Cllr Justin Robinson, Portfolio Holder for Adult and Community Services, said: "We have forged excellent working partnerships with volunteers, partner agencies and carers across the county, allowing us to deliver excellent services at the local level to people across Somerset."
