POLICE are urging people in Bishop's Hull to beware bogus callers following a distraction burglary in the Smithy area of the village on Friday.
Police say a man called at a woman's house claiming he had to check the water.
He made his victim sit in the kitchen while he carried out a search of her property with another man. The pair then made off with cash.
The main offender was described as a white man aged around 20, about 5ft 8ins tall, of thin build.
He was clean shaven, had a thin face and wore a brown suit and white shirt with no tie.
Police are now reminding people not to let anyone into their property unless they are entirely satisfied about who they are.
Anyone who has any information about Friday's offence is urged to call police on 0845-4567000 or Crimestoppers, which can be anonymous, on 0800-555111.
