FEELINGS ran high outside a primary school on the first day of term after a car park where parents drop off their children was blocked.
Representatives of North Curry village hall committee placed two chairs at the entrance, forcing parents to leave youngsters at the roadside.
Mother Lucinda Smith, a community nurse, said the situation when the pupils went back on Tuesday was dangerous.
"It was total gridlock on the road - it's only narrow," said Mrs Smith. "It's asking for an accident.
"Nobody else was using the car park, but there was a man and a woman at the entrance, blocking it with two chairs.
"There is a gate between the car park and the school and we've always used it in the past.
"It made a lot of children late for registration and some of the mothers were so angry they were shouting abuse at the man and woman."
The village newsletter recently advised people that parents would be unable to use the car park as it was needed for a school bus to turn in.
Village hall committee secretary Joan Gubbin declined to comment.
School head teacher Elsa Hedges said: "I don't wish to make an official comment.
"We're dealing with it and hopefully we'll come to some sort of mutual agreement."
