Electrical fire in Seaton

FIRE crews used thermal imaging equipment after being called to an electrical fire in Seaton last night.

The Devon and Somerset Fire Service received a call reporting an electrical fire in a domestic property at Scalwell Lane.

One fire appliance from Seaton, and one appliance from Colyton attended the scene.

Fire crews found a fire involving a consumer unit in the kitchen. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and requested the attendance of Western Power Distribution.

The resident of the property was unharmed but was moved to a safer part of the building.

Fire crews used a thermal image camera to inspect further and used small tools to cut away an area affected by burning on the ceiling in the kitchen.

The electrical supply was isolated by Western Power Distribution.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
