A NEW South West charity is hosting a show that aims to build self-esteem and to change stereotypes.

Tickets are now on sale for the Beauty Unseen show on October 1, at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway.

Three Mid Devon women have been selected to take part as 'role models' and have each been matched with a fashion designer whose outfit they will wear.

Marianne Gutierrez from Cullompton, Caroline Sykes from Tiverton and Suzanne Dugmore from Crediton, have all been selected to raise awareness for their own causes on stage in a live show. Six other role models were selected from elsewhere in the South West.

The live show incorporates the nine role models telling their life stories through music, dance and media on stage.

The show will include an outfit donated by Vivienne Westwood from Tiverton role model Miss Sykes.

380 tickets are on now available for the October show. Each unique ticket is handmade using scraps from Heathcoat Fabrics. The materials used vary from hot air balloon, turbo charger hose material and aircraft door seal fabric.

Ele Newsome, development engineer at Heathcoat Fabrics, and her friend Alex Hall from a local sewing group called Crafty Sew and Sews volunteered to be part of making every person attending feel special.

She said: “When I heard about the Beauty Unseen concept I was happy to use my crafting skills and access to fabric remnants from the factory to help a great cause.

"Although when I volunteered I didn’t comprehend the 4800 individually sewn parts to form 380 tickets and will be sewing right up to the show date to complete them all.”

Roz Thomas, chairman of Beauty Unseen, said: “We were so excited when Ele and Alex volunteered to help.

"Beauty Unseen is all about bringing unseen beauty into the spotlight, and knowing that scraps of material could be made into something so beautiful, runs hand in hand with what the charity is all about - uplifting and raising awareness of things that otherwise might be missed.

"We now hope that 380 people from around the South West will come and support the nine role models in both entertaining and challenging the audience."
