POLICE have launched a witness appeal after a man died in a car crash in Honiton.
Emergency services were called at 8am on Wednesday after avehicle was found in a field off the old A30 near to the showground at Fenny Bridges.
The driver, thought to be aged 50 and from Torquay, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin has been informed and police await formal identification.
The old A30 [B3177] was closed along with one lane of the main A30while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit carried out an examination of the scene.
The roads reopened at 1.15pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone who can assist is asked to email 101@dc.police.uk or phone 101, quoting log number 89 of 27/04/16.
