A MAN is in hospital in a critical condition after suffering from life-threatening injuries following an assault in Exeter.

A scene guard remains in place after officers were called to a property in the area of Lower Summerlands and Clifton Road at 1.10am this morning, Wednesday, April 6.

A man, who is not from the local area, was found with serious injuries which were described as life-threatening.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

House-to-house enquiries are being carried out by officers in the area.

A police spokesperson said: “We are trying to gather information about the movements of a group of six to eight men in and around that location between 11pm on Tuesday, April 5 and 1.30am on Wednesday, April 6.

“The men are described as having Liverpudlian accents, aged between 18 and 30 and of stocky build. They were wearing tracksuits and trainers.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything that could assist with our enquiries.”
