BBC RADIO 1’s Big Weekend is coming to Exeter on May 28 and 29 at Powderham Castle.

You’ll get exclusive access via Radio 1, BBC Four television and online – there’s also a chance you could be there if you’re lucky.

There are 50,000 tickets available for music fans across the weekend, but it is expected demand will massively exceed supply and that tickets will go very quickly.

Alread announced to perform are Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Bring Me the Horizon, The 1975, Chase and Status, Jake Bugg and Craig David.

Booking will open at 8am on Monday, April 4 and will be handled by Ticketmaster on behalf of Radio 1 and the BBC.

A non-refundable event admin fee of £8.50 per ticket will be applied to cover ticket handling, postage and other event administration costs - see the BBC's website with full terms and conditions.

The information below explains how the booking process works:

Booking Tickets By Phone: It is strongly recommend booking online if possible – it is the simplest and quickest method of getting tickets.

It is expected phone lines will be exceptionally busy, however a dedicated phone number - 0844 453 9012 – will be available for those without internet access.

Please note calls will cost 7p per minute, plus standard network rates – these vary and can be significantly higher for mobiles.

Calls made before booking opens will not be answered but will still be changed.

Online Booking: Shortly before 8am on Monday April 4 you will see three links appear on the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend page – if they haven’t appeared by 7.55am you should refresh the page.

From 8am, clicking on these links will transfer you to a secure site hosted by Ticketmaster.

You must use these links to apply; tickets will not be available directly via Ticketmaster’s main website.

Note, if you try and access the site before 8am, no tickets will show up as being available.

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend moves to a different area of the UK each year and we always give a degree of preference to local residents.

Tickets will be divided into three pots:

1. 60 per cent of tickets will be reserved for those living within the areas covered by Exeter City Council and Teignbridge District Council

2. 35 per cent of tickets will be reserved for residents living in surrounding parts of the South West who have other Exeter (EX) or Torquay (TQ) codes; and those with Truro (TR), Plymouth (PL), Taunton (TA) and Dorchester (DT) postcodes

3. The remaining 5 per cent will be available to the rest of the UK P

lease ensure you click on the correct link for your area.

To apply for tickets in either Pot 1 or 2 you will be required to input your full postcode (with no gaps) at the start of the booking process.

You will also need to ensure that the credit or debit card you want to use is registered at this address/postcode - checks will be made as part of the process.

If the address you give during booking does not match that held by your credit card company, the BBC withhold the right to cancel your tickets, but will not refund any admin fees paid.

If you are applying for tickets from Pot 3, you will not be asked to enter a postcode at the start of the process; please note however, you will be required to bring the debit or credit card used when ordering the tickets with you on the day of the event as proof of identify.

In an effort to stop people trying to sell tickets, nothing will be sent out in advance to those booking Pot 3 tickets and your card will be needed to ensure entry.

There is no need to register any of your details in advance, but those who are successful in obtaining tickets will be required to set up an account with Ticketmaster as part of the process.

Time will be allowed for you to do this, but you can also set up an account before booking opens if you would like to do so. We also strongly advice that you check our Ticket Booking Guide before Monday April 4 to ensure you understand how the ticket process will work.

In particular, please note:

• You can request either one or two tickets, subject to availability; and a non-refundable ticket admin fee of £8.50 will be charged for each ticket.

• Everyone aged two and over requires a ticket for the event and each ticket admits one person only – so you should select two tickets if you are hoping to bring someone along with you.

• There are no age restrictions for the event; however under-16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over.

• You can only book for one day at a time – although, if tickets remain for your area, you can go and re-start the process to apply for the other day.

• Tickets are limited to one pair per person, per day.

You can apply for tickets on behalf of others, please note however a maximum of four bookings across the weekend will be accepted on any one credit or debit card.

Bookings over this limit will be cancelled, but fees will not be returned.

• BBC expect to announce the full line-up in April, but the BBC is not able to swap tickets between days once allocated.

• If you are applying for tickets reserved for the local area you will need to enter your postcode to obtain tickets and will be asked for proof of address if you need to collect tickets for any reason – this is to stop people giving false addresses and then claiming tickets did not turn up in the post.

• You can only use your main residential address when applying and your credit / debit card will need to be registered at this address.

• Booking online is strongly recommend. If you wish to call, please note calls to 0844 numbers cost 7p a minute plus standard network charges. It is suggested you use a landline – charges for mobiles vary and can be significantly higher. Calls will not be answered before booking opens, but will still be charged.

• An extensive range of facilities will be made available to help ensure the event is as accessible as possible for disabled visitors.

• It is expectrf demand for tickets to be huge and have worked with Ticketmaster to ensure that the maximum amount of web site capacity is available. However, it is highly likely that you will be placed in a queue before you can start the booking process.

• The sheer weight of internet traffic can occasionally cause local technical issues outside our control for some users.

• You may wish to take transport and accommodation costs into consideration before booking if you live a long distance from Exeter.

Whichever way you try to book, you will need to be lucky to get tickets – demand for Radio 1’s Big Weekend is always huge and unfortunately some people end up disappointed.
