Staff at a Tiverton toiletries business have been left without pay after it went into administration.

Broad Oak Toiletries based on the Tiverton Business Park has filed for administration with 214 members of staff now without work.

Simon Girling, business restructuring partner at adminsitrators BDO LLP said: "Broad Oak had significantly developed its customer base over the last 18 months, but this led to capacity issues at its Tiverton manufacturing plant which put insurmountable pressures on its working capital.

"The company exhausted all possible options to continue to trade and, ultimately, in the absence of a buyer of the business as a going concern, it was forced to cease to trade and unfortunately all employees have been made redundant.

"The joint administrators will seek purchasers of the specialist assets and interest in the significant leasehold properties in Tiverton and Burlescombe and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of all creditors.

"We would urge staff and creditors with any concerns to contact the Joint Administrators via BRNOTICE@bdo.co.uk."

A MEETING has been organised for those affected by the sudden closure.

Cllr Sue Grigg has organised the meeting on Thursday, February 18 at Tiverton Town Hall from 2pm until 5pm.

The event has been organised to encourage local key services, such as the Jobcentre, The Citizens Advice Bureau, to meet in one place so the people made redundant can have one place to go to for advice and help.
