Devon gardeners encouraged to help wildlife

DEVON Wildlife Trust is celebrating two new ventures in May that will help Devon gardeners to encourage more wildlife onto their patches and combat the effects of climate change.

Visitors to Eggesford Garden Centre on Sunday, May 6, will be among the first to experience the DWT travelling wildlife garden.

The day also sees the Garden Centre celebrate its promotion to silver level of the DWT approval scheme, the first to reach this level.

John Hayward, DWT's community biodiversity officer said: "The travelling wildlife garden is a bit like entering a garden Tardis. It gives you the feeling of being a small mouse in a whole world that is a garden. "Children love it and we bring along some real garden wildlife to show what you can encourage into your own patch."

Six other Garden Centres in Devon are also working in partnership with DWT on the scheme.
