A barman was left shaken but uninjured after a robber used threats to make him open a safe on Tuesday evening.

The robbery occurred at around 10.30pm at the Crediton golf club, located at Hookway, when the offender entered the premises and forced the barman to open the safe, before leaving with a number of safe bags, blue or re in colour containing cash.

The barman was not injured but naturally very shaken following the incident. 

Police described offender as a white man aged in his 30s or early 40s, approximately 6’4” in height, stocky build, and wearing a dark coloured fleece/hiking jacket with red panels on the shoulders, dark coloured trousers and a dark balaclava covering his face.

Detective Sergeant Simon Davey from Tiverton CID said: "We are appealing for witnesses and in particular are seeking to hear from anyone who was in the area between 10pm and 11pm and may have either seen a vehicle parked in the vicinity of the golf club or around the perimeter roads or a man walking in the area”.
