THE Devon beach which was closed following the grounding of the MSC Napoli off the coastline is to be reopened.
Branscombe beach, from Branscombe Mouth Westwards, will open again at 4pm on Friday.
The decision follows an 'all clear' to the National Trust from the contractors in charge of the clean up operation on the beach. It comes nearly eight weeks after the stricken container ship was grounded one mile off the East Devon coast. In the aftermath of the grounding, the beach was covered with debris washed overboard from the ship in bad weather.
The beach area to the East of Branscombe Mouth remains closed due to the amount of heavy machinery still on the beach.
