A NEW tourism report from Visit England has revealed that people who visit Devon agree its better value than they expected.

And for the majority of visitors, once they've visited they are likely to want to go back again and again!

The report comes as industry leaders claim the good weather across September has brought an extra £6M from tourism into the county:

The online tracking study was conducted amongst 5,000 people of English holiday takers across 12 months.

Devon's top five strengths as a visitor destination were the high quality of its beaches, safety, welcoming and friendly people, quality of accommodation and tidiness.

Devon was also revealed as a place, which once discovered, would become a favourite. 53% of visitors who've been to the county said it's a place they want to explore again.

Devon was also identified as surprisingly good value: 40% of people who had holidayed there said it is good value, versus 20% of people who had not been to Devon.

Carolyn Custerson, Chair of Visit Devon and Chief Executive of the English Riviera Company, said: "It's fantastic to see visitors recognising Devon's strengths as a quality holiday destination.

We have fantastic beaches, great places to stay and offer great value - especially for families. It's no wonder, once tried Devon becomes a regular holiday destination on the calendar.

We hope people who've not been to Devon will visit us and discover why people love it."
