POETRY will play its part in raising awareness about climate change, at a Community Energy Fortnight event in Exeter.

Matt Harvey, the poet-in-residence at sustainable energy champions Regen SW will premier his new energy inspired collection, “The Element in the Room” on 23 September at the Bikeshed Theatre, Exeter. The event is organised by Regen SW and sponsored by leading South West law firm, Stephens Scown LLP.

Sonya Bedford, partner and head of renewable energy at Stephens Scown said: “I’m very excited about this event. It will be a great way to highlight the crucial role of renewable energy in reducing the impact of climate change.

"By spending time with Regen SW Matt has seen first hand the technologies in action and I look forward to hearing how these translate into his poetry.”

As well as performing his own work, Matt will introduce a packed programme with featured poet Jackie Juno, the Grand Bard of Exeter and special guest speakers, Gill Wyatt, director of Exeter Community Energy, Gabriel Wondrausch of Sun Gift Solar and Merlin Hyman of Regen SW.

"The event will conclude with an open poetry slam finale and live music in the bar.

The Element in the Room will take place on Tuesday, 23 September at 7pm at the Bikeshed Theatre and Bar, Exeter. Tickets £10 (£8 concession and members).
