GO2, organisers of Exeter’s Great West Run, sponsored by Tozers, are pleased to announce that entry levels have already exceeded those of the 2013 race at 2,500, with still two months left to go for runners to sign up.

This years race, taking place on Sunday 19th October 2014, has not only enticed a growing level of interest from clubs and runners, but also from a number of new partners, which promise to maximise both the race day experience, and engagement with the community in the lead up.

In addition to Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Newtown Community Association, who are new partners for 2014, GO2 have also announced Jurys Inn Exeter as the events accommodation partner, and Ironbridge Runner as its retail partner.

Jamie Warren, Marketing Manager at GO2, said: "Entries for this years race got off to a phenomenal start in May, and have continued to gather even more momentum as the weeks go by. It’s fantastic to see that we have already hit last years numbers, and we hope that over the summer even more runners will look to take on the challenge of Exeter’s Great West Run!

“As with all of our races, our aim is not only to create an enjoyable race day experience for our participants and the city’s spectators, but also to find innovative ways to involve local business and groups that serve the area.

"For example, Ironbridge Runner are holding an exclusive shopping event for Exeter’s Great West Run entrants, and will be offering free gait analysis and running advice, alongside 15% off all full price merchandise. The shopping events are always extremely well received by our runners, and the support helps tremendously with the ongoing development of Exeter’s Great West Run.”

The half marathon aims to showcase the best of Exeter, taking a central route through the City Centre, Exwick, the University, Pinhoe Road as well as the beautiful country lanes of St Andrew’s Road and on towards Stoke Woods.

Elaine Mellotte, General Manager, Jurys Inn Exeter said: “Jurys Inn Exeter are delighted to be supporting such a pivotal sporting event in Exeter’s busy calendar, and are proud to be the Official Accommodation Partner of Exeter’s Great West Run. Good luck to all the runners!”

The official charity partners for the 2014 race are Cancer Research UK and Devon Air Ambulance Trust, who are both recruiting a large number of runners to join their team. The Schools’ Challenge will also return for 2014, where local primary schools take on the challenge of running a half marathon distance over the course of 12 weeks, with the final mile on race day in front of thousands of cheering spectators!
