PARKLANDS Okehampton Leisure Centre is joining forces with Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) and the South West Pentathlon to support this year’s Okehampton Biathlon on Friday August 22.
- To support the event, which is aimed at adult and youth competitors alike, Parklands Okehampton is providing pool marshals, lifeguards and use of its swimming pool
- Alongside a swim, the biathlon will feature a run, the length of which is determined by age and will take place in the spectacular surroundings of Simmons Park and the Ockment Valley
- Under 14s will be required to swim 50m and run 800m whilst those older than 14 will swim 100m and run 1600m
- OCRA is a charity that aims to develop sporting and recreational opportunities for Okehampton and the surrounding area
Jon Smith, Contract Manager at Parklands Okehampton, commented: "We are very happy to be supporting this brilliant community event.
"Biathlons may be difficult events but they can be great fun at the same time. I am really looking forward to seeing participants battle it out in our amazing swimming pool and I wish everyone taking part the best of luck!"
