Detectives investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy in Kingsbridge will be returning to the town one week after the tragic event to appeal for the public’s help.

A murder enquiry was launched after the death of Alex Peguero Sosa, from the Kingsbridge area, who was found with fatal injuries at a bus shelter in Prince of Wales Road around 2.20am on July 6.

Lee Dent, 42, of East Portlemouth, Salcombe, has been charged with murder and remains in custody following an appearance at Exeter Crown Court on 10 July.

Detectives and local officers will return to Kingsbridge on Saturday night to hand out flyers and appeal to the local community for further information to assist with the enquiry.

Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose said: “Our officers will be in the vicinity of the bus stop on Saturday night, a week on from the tragic death of Alex, to give local people and visitors the chance to talk to us and provide any information they can to help with this investigation.

“We are appealing for help from the public to help us piece together a complete picture of the events before and after this incident.

“Members of the enquiry team, local officers and PCSOs will be handing out flyers which we hope might prompt anyone who saw or heard anything in connection with Alex’s death to speak to us.

“Kingsbridge is a close community and someone may hold vital information, however small, that could prove crucial to this investigation. We would urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Anyone who can assist with the investigation can also contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting log number 194 of 6th July 2014.
