THE Post Office is proposing to reopen Lapford Post Office in Crediton as a Hosted Outreach service and is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the change in a six-week public consultation.

The former Lapford Post Office closed in September 2013 when the subpostmaster resigned and the premised were withdrawn from Post Office use.

The new service provided by the subpostmaster from North Tawton will operate from The Orchard Centre, Lapford, Crediton, EX17 6PZ - this is approximately 500 metres from the site of the previous branch.

Operating hours for the Hosted Outreach service would be Monday and Friday: 9am-1pm and Tuesday 1pm-5pm. The same services would be available as previously with the exception of Car Tax renewals and On Demand Travel Money.

The date for the change has yet to be confirmed and posters will be displayed in branch to advise customers of when the move will take place.

Post Office Field Change Advisor Colin Pound said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Lapford and we are confident this new hosted Outreach service will meet the needs of the local community and safeguard Post Office services for the future.”
