TAKE Note Community Choir is hosting Tiverton's first Posh Jumble Sale on March 29 in St George's Church Hall.

All the money raised will be used to support Take Note Community Choir, a non-audutioned, not-for-profit choir based in Tiverton.

Choir member and sale organiser Helen Towler-Williams said: "Second-hand sales have made a massive come back in recent years. People are really watching the pennies but there's also a big desire to recycle stuff and avoid filling the landfills. So what makes a jumble sale ‘posh?’ "When people think of jumble sales, they tend to imagine dirty clothes, odd shoes and broken toys.

“A posh jumble means that all the items have been sorted and that they are clean and in good working order.

“Just like you would find in a good charity shop. We have had some fabulous items donated including designer clothes and handbags.

“However, the prices are still reflect the spirit of a traditional jumble sale with most items 50p or less."

The choir regularly perform in and around Tiverton at charity events – and recently performed at rewe Church to raise money CHAT, the Churches Housing Action team.

Choir director, Katy Baker, says "the choir is open to all and there's no charge to join. Our running costs are very generously covered by The Caroline Brewin Trust, but we have been given the opportunity of sharing our singing with our twinned town of Chinon.

“We are planning a visit to Chinon in October and are proud to be representing the music traditions of Tiverton town to our friends in France.”
