A TOTAL of 6,000 chickens were killed in a fire this morning (Sunday).

Firefighters rescued cattle and other livestock by moving them to safety.

Crews were called to the incident at Perkins Village, near Aylesbeare, Exeter, at 10.30am.

The 50m by 20m was destroyed in the blaze, which is believed to have started accidentally.
