Detectives are appealing to the public for information following two burglaries at nearby properties in Kingskerswell over the past week.

Both homes were broken into through a UPVC door with offenders targeting jewellery on each occasion.

Around 20 items of jewellery plus other items were taken from an elderly couple’s home in Woodland Avenue on Saturday night between 6pm and 9.15pm.

The offender made untidy search of the property before stealing several rings, necklaces, brooches and bracelets, plus jewellery boxes.

Among the stolen items was a gold man’s wedding ring, a triple string pearl necklace, a distinctive silver ring imprinted with ivy leaves, a Turkish silver and glass bracelet and a nurse’s silver belt buckle.

The offender is believed to have stolen a pillowcase from the house to carry the items away.

A home in Avenue Road was also broken into some time between 11am on Tuesday 4 February and 3pm on Thursday 6 February.

On this occasion, the offender escaped with a yellow gold wedding ring and engagement ring, various food items and three bottles of spirits.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on the dates of the crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference JN/14/382.
