Stained glass success at Tidcombe

First published in News

YEAR five children at Tidcombe Primary School have been getting creative as part of stained glass window project.

They have been learning about stained glass windows, with help from Tidcombe Community Church, and spent an afternoon drawing their own designs.

Year five class teacher Hannah Clarke said: “The pupils also talked about how each window can display an event such as the birth of Christ, a symbol such as chalice or dove, or a scene from the Bible or a saint’s life.

“Some children also saw the windows as pieces of creative artwork because of the way certain colours of glass had been used in the windows or the way that the windows are sometimes positioned to take advantage of sunlight at different times of day.

“The pupils worked really hard on their compositions and choices of colours.

“We are really proud of our achievements and the pupils are off to talk to year five pupils about what they have learned about stained glass windows later this week.”
