Fog, flooding and rain warning for Devon

Mid Devon Star: Fog, flooding and rain warning for Devon Fog, flooding and rain warning for Devon

The Met Office is warning of fog and heavy downpours in Devon tonight and tomorrow.

Patchy fog will form in places through Monday evening, perhaps becoming more widespread overnight and into Tuesday morning. The public are warned of the potential for difficult driving conditions and some travel disruption.
Fog patches will affect some parts of the yellow area as early as Monday evening. However, there is potential for fog to become more widespread overnight and into Tuesday morning. Some places within the yellow area will not see fog, but where it forms it could be locally dense with visibility falling below 200 metres.

The fog may be slow to clear on Tuesday in some places.

The rain is set to spread slowly eastwards across southwest England on Tuesday and is likely to become heavy at times later in the day, before clearing away east in the early hours of Wednesday.

A 'yellow alert' is in place.

With the ground remaining saturated, the public should be aware of the risk of further localised flooding within the warning area. This could lead to minor disruption to transport.

The Met Office chief forecaster says the rain is due to a frontal system moving east across southwest England later on Tuesday clearing east in the early hours of Wednesday.

A further 10-15 mm of rain is likely with locally 20-25 mm possible on south-facing upslopes. With the ground remaining saturated only relatively modest amounts of further rain could cause localised flooding.
