Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly assaulted in an attack in Dartmouth at the weekend.

The 43-year-old victim was approached by a man in Smith Street between about 11.45pm on Saturday 11 January and 12.15am on Sunday 12 January.

He was punched in the face before passing out, and sustained facial injuries. A passer-by who may have seen the attack assisted him.

Police believe this was an unprovoked attack.

The suspect was wearing a dark grey/blue top and jeans.

A 27-year-old man from Dartmouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 12 March 2014.
