Police investigating the fatal road traffic collision in Plympton on Saturday have named the man who died as 25-year-old Andrew Moores.

His family have released the following tribute: “Andrew was a fantastic son, brother and friend and made our lives richer by being in it. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

“He was a doting uncle to his two nieces and nephew, who he spent every minute he could with and will never forget him.

“Andrew’s untimely death has left a massive whole in all our hearts and as a family we would like to thank all who knew Andrew for their kind words and continued support.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision.

The white Nissan Skyline, driven by Andrew Moores, collided with a road sign on Plymouth Road, near McDonalds, shortly after 5.35am.

The car was travelling from the Plympton direction towards Marsh Mills roundabout.

The driver is thought to have lost control of his vehicle before colliding with the sign on the central reservation, resulting in extensive damage to the car.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. The road was reopened at 3.50pm following a difficult recovery operation and a specialist forensic investigation of the scene.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the man’s next of kin have been informed.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting log 150 of 11 January.
