Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a road traffic collision in Plympton at the weekend.

The white Nissan Skyline, driven by a 25-year-old local man, collided with a road sign on Plymouth Road, near McDonalds, shortly after 5.35am on Saturday 11 January.

The car was travelling from the Plympton direction towards Marsh Mills roundabout.

The driver is thought to have lost control of his vehicle before colliding with the sign on the central reservation, resulting in extensive damage to the car.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. The road was reopened at 3.50pm following a difficult recovery operation and a specialist forensic investigation of the scene.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the man’s next of kin have been informed.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting log 150 of 11 January.
