SIX hospices in Devon have received generous donations from the Freemasons’ Grand Charity.
The donations total more than £14,300, of which Pine Lodge, in Tiverton – a day care hospice run by Hospiscare – received £1,000.
Just under 240 adult and children’s hospices across England and Wales have received a total of £600,000 from the Freemasons’ fundraising.
All donations are raised by Freemasons and their families and aim to assist hospices in their vital role in helping those affected by terminal or lifelimiting illness.
Speaking about the donation, Ian Kingsbury, head of the Freemasons in Devon said: “The care provided by our local hospices is exceptional, but financial support is fundamental to ensuring a continued good service.”
Barry Carpenter, fundraiser at Hospiscare said: “The continued support of our Freemasons in Devon is very much appreciated.
“Our day hospice at Pine Lodge in Tiverton has been a great success, so much so, we are building a new day hospice in Honiton which will open in 2014.”
Hospiscare provides specialist care and support to thousands of terminally ill people in Exeter, mid and east Devon.
