A BROTHER and sister from Bickleigh are the creators of a new children's book that has recently gone on sale.

Lindsey and Craig Starling joined forces to produce the book, 'Pikity Witch and the Magic Teardrops' - with Craig writing it and Lindsey illustrating.

The book is the first in a series of Pikity Children's books, aimed at 3-7 year old.

The book follows the character of a young witch who has to come to terms with the absence of her guardian.

The message behind the story is about creating a keepsake reminder, so that the love and lessons of a loved one can be forever with someone.

Lindsey said: “The story is a fun rhyming text and illustrated on a style that children can enjoy reading and colouring.

“Parents can read the book to reassure their little loved before taking a trip away.”

Lindsey and Craig Starling created the book to help educate children about an everyday issue not related to the classroom.

They also wish to use the book to promote creativity in arts subjects with younger children.

Lindsey visited Bickleigh Primary School to the book to the children and run a creative writing and colouring competition.

Bickleigh Primary School head teacher Mr David Goode said: "The children enjoyed this thought provoking story and meeting the illustrator of the book, listening to Lindsey read the story and afterwards, talking about Pikity's experiences - provided a reassuring means of exploring how to cope when things go wrong."

Pikity Witch is available to buy online as a print and eBook version from most major retailers.

L&C Starling also promote the children's activities through their website www.pikity.co.uk and their Facebook and Twitter.
