The Devon Federation of Young Farmers Clubs celebrated another successful twelve months at this years’ County AGM, held at Woodbury Park on Thursday November 28.
David Fursdon was voted by the members as the President for the Federation and Chris Berry of Kenn Valley is the new County Chairman.
Members and supporters of the federation demonstrate how they have continued to help the wider community, when they announced this year’s charity fundraising total of £100,259.
Members of Young Farmers across Devon have raised the money during the year through various fundraising events, including a 24 hour shear-a-thon, bike ride from Devon to Blackpool for the National AGM, auction of promises and the three peaks challenge. The money was raised and donated to local and national charities throughout the year.
One of the local charities Devon Young Farmers consistently support each year is the Devon Air Ambulance and this year was no exception as members donated over £24,000 to the organisation.
Other charities included CLIC Sargant, Cancer Research UK and the Farming Community Network who also benefited from the members achievements.
Paul Glanvill the retiring County Chairman said: “I am really proud of all the members for raising such a massive amount for so many charities this year.
“We know for many people current times are hard, but they have still been supporting these good causes. Our members work very hard each year for the funds they raise but this year is just incredible.”
