DEVON Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) has been celebrating after winning one award - and being shortlisted for another four.

The awards include three national Air Ambulance Association and two regionally focused awards.

DAAT's series of helicopter drop-ins 'Devon Air Ambulance on Tour' last summer, was awarded a AAA Excellence Award 2013 in the Campaign of the Year cate¬gory. The campaign was designed to introduce the new aircraft to the commu¬nity.

The charity has also been nominated in the 'Special Incident' category for a call out to Watchet in January when a baby was rescued from the water after strong winds blew his buggy into the harbour.

Ann Ralli, who founded DAAT in 1992 after the death of her son Ceri Thomas in a road traffic collision, has been shortlisted for the AAA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Adam Short, 27, has been¬shortlisted in the Employee of the Year category of the Western Morning News Business Awards for his commitment and contribu¬tion to the charity's work and for his willingness to go 'above and beyond the call of duty'.

He was nominated by his colleagues despite only being with the charity for 16 months.

The charity has also been shortlisted in the Emerg-ency Services Award catego¬ry in the Pride of Plymouth Awards 2013 - the public in the area made nominations.
