Court Fields School out of special measures
9:00am Sunday 3rd November 2013 in News
A SCHOOL which was put into special measures is back on the right track.
Court Fields School, Wellington, has moved up just 11 months after being rated ‘inadequate’ by OFSTED.
Head teacher Rachael Bennett said: “Everyone has worked hard and it’s so pleasing to see OFSTED recognise the huge efforts that have been made.
“There’s clear improvement and we know what we need to do. Everyone has helped, but the teachers and students really deserve praise.”
The latest inspection, which rates the school as ‘requires improvement’, follows promising GCSE results where 57% of students achieved five or more C grades, including English and maths.
It is believed to be the shortest time a Somerset secondary school has taken to make such a significant improvement.
From January 1, Court Fields will become an academy, sponsored by The Castle School in Taunton.
Castle head teacher Sarah Watson will become executive head and oversee both schools, while Ms Bennett will remain in charge of the day-to-day running of Court Fields.
