A BARN has been gutted after a fire ravaged through the building near Cullompton this afternoon.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called out to a large fire at a barn at around 12.40pm.
Initially, three fire engines from Cullompton, Middlemoor and Tiverton attended the incident but when fire crews saw the extent of the blaze, further appliances from Tiverton and Danes Castle were sent out along with the incident command support vehicle and support from Exmouth.
Dozens of firefighters spent around three hours tackling the flames at the barn, which measured around fifteen metres by ten metres.
Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one main jet and one ground monitor to extinguish the fire.
Approximately twenty tonnes of cut timber and one tractor were also destroyed by the fire.
It is not thought there were any casualties and crews dampened down the scene before leaving.
