DEVON celebrates the tenth anniversary of the largest professional cycle race in the UK this year with family entertainment hosted by local communities along the route.
Stage Six of The Tour of Britain 2013 will pass through the county on Friday, September 20, when a record 114 professional riders will race 85 miles from Sidmouth, on the Jurassic Coast, to Haytor, in Dartmoor National Park.
It is estimated that the Yodel Sprints will begin at 12.09 outside Blundell’s School, Tiverton.
During Devon’s involvement over the past seven years, the Tour has brought more than £21 million to the local economy and showcased the county to a worldwide television audience.
Last year’s Devon Stage generated more than £7.3 million in the county.
In addition to cheering on some of the best professional cyclists in the world, residents and visitors in Exeter can expect to be entertained with free lunchtime theatre as part of the city’s Unexpected Festival.
