Jamie Oliver launches new cookbook into libraries across Devon
2:00pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
TV chef Jamie Oliver is donating dozens of copies of his latest cookbook to Devon’s libraries in a move which is in keeping with the title’s aims.
'Save With Jamie' was launched today (Thursday) in response to public demand for a cookbook about exciting food which doesn’t break the bank.
It will be available in all 50 of the county’s libraries, and in the spirit of Jamie’s generosity the service has waived the reservation charge.
Jamie said: “We know from the fabulous work libraries do every day that everyone deserves a chance to learn basic skills which can improve everyday lives.
“Reading and cooking are two of those skills for sure.
“I’ll admit I’ve been a late developer with the first, but I can definitely help with the second.”
Cllr Roger Croad, Devon County Council Cabinet Member responsible for Devon’s library service, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Jamie Oliver and his publisher for this very generous gift.
“Jamie’s mission to make good food accessible to all drives right at the heart of the role libraries play to make good reading accessible to all.”
